Kakadu & Katherine Gorge

 Hi Everyone!

A few pics from Kakadu (we weren't overly fussed on Kaka-don't - as some travellers called it!) but it was still nice.  We loved Katherine and Katherine Gorge but couldn't stay for too long. Our dinner cruise on the Katherine River was absolutely fabulous, 3 course dinner was yum-o!! If you are ever up this way, you must go see this specky part of NT. Also FYI, a few people have mentioned that they're unable to post comments etc. I'm not sure if you have to be a follower to do so??? But try that if you are wanting to post any comments, we would love to hear from you!! Or if you figure out how to do it, please let me know!!

Hope you enjoy the pics!

Entering Kakadu National Park.

Bukbukluk Lookout. We stopped for some tuna & tomato on crackers for lunch here.

Cahills Crossing at Ubirr just north of Jabiru NT.

Rick throwing a line at Cahills Crossing......unsuccessful...no fish for dinner that night!

Toyota Ute towing a truck full of supplies across the river.

Katherine River.......spot Rick!

The Honeymooners overlooking Katherine River......was so beautiful!

Some very interesting info about the Katherine River......and good excuse to take a rest on our hike!

One of the tours on offer exploring the Katherine River.

When we came back from our hike, this Wallaby was near our camp.....she was not shy at all eating out of my hand!

Our dinner cruise boat getting ready for us!!

Before our dinner cruise on the Katherine River, part of the tour was seeing all 3 gorges, suppose to be only
2 gorges so we were very fortunate to get all 3. Rick looking super excited!!!!

Absolutely striking colours of the sandstone!

Hopping off our boat at the 1st gorge to get to our other boat to see the 2nd gorge.

Our short walk to our boat, Rick quickly spun around to take this photo!

Our 2nd boat.

For some reason I cant turn the vertical photos up so this photo is actually sightings of croc tracks!!

The black on the sandstone is actually algae growing from water seepage.

Woo Hoo! Our first freshwater croc sighting haha!! We were pretty excited! This was only a small one though.

Lead up to the 2nd gorge. This part of the river is actually where beautiful pics are taken for promotional purposes etc.

Another Freshwater Croc!! And this one was not moving anytime soon.....look at its belly!
Very fat with something for dinner!

We were VERY relaxed by this stage!!

Our dinner cruise awaiting!!!!

Champagne on arrival with wild hibiscus! Rick was horrified when I ate the hibiscus
until I convinced him to try it and he was pleasantly surprised!

We sat with some really lovely people, made the experience even more enjoyable!

The sandy bank we stopped at for dinner on the Katherine River. The weather was absolutely perfect!

Another great end to a great couple of days.....till next time!!

Lawn Hill to Mataranka

Hi All

Travelling well, had to back track from Lawn Hill as the road to Hells Gate was still flooded so we had to go back the way we came and make our way to Darwin via Camooweal, Katherine etc etc. Was a bit annoying but still had a great time along the way. Hope you enjoy the photos!

Love Rick & Tegs

This is on top of Lookout Hill at Lawn Hill. The rock formations are from people over the years creating them (apparently!)

Glass of wine for the Sunset!

Cheers!

Wasn't as specky as we thought it would be but the views were still very nice.

Finally in the NT! I was very excited as I had never been to the NT.

Set up camp at Avon Downs, Rick looking very relaxed beside the fire!

We were being a bit cheeky...the police station is right behind us across the road whilst having a glass of wine!

Rick relaxing and giving his feet a good soak! Where's my pedicure???

Beautiful Sunset at Avon Downs

Our roast Lamb cooking away very nicely :)

We had a traveller sitting with us, Allan. He cooked his dinner on the fire and boiled the billy for his cup of tea!

Our roast lamb done. The coals were VERY hot so we really had to keep an eye on it, turned out beautifully!!!

Road to nowhere....????? (This was from Barkly Homestead to Cape Crawford in the NT)

Forgot to fill our thermos that morning so we lit a small fire on the side onand boiled our kettle for a cuppa!

Rick picked some flowers for me whilst looking for firewood...Awe, aint love grand?!!

This is Daly Waters Pub!

Very quirky pub!

Outside of the pub where it all happens.

Rick ordered a barra fillet burger, was pretty good so he reckons.

I had the rib fillet burger, it was sooooooooooo good. We're coming back again on our way back thru to Mt Isa!!

The blowflies were HUGE here. Could not believe my eyes when I saw them! Has anyone seen the Movie Bugs Life??

Rick must of made this sign. Looks like his spelling.......

Gee and another one......

These are all different money notes people have put up

Name badges...

Id's, drivers licences etc etc......I know where you live......

Oopsy Daisy......Rick left our headlights on and we need a jumpstart....was pretty funny. Well I thought so!

Crazy speed limits. Unleash the V8!

Our setup at Mataranka with damper cooking

Damper is ready! Was very yummy! So good, our nextdoor travellers wanted the recipe!

A bull sale in Mataranka during the 3 day Never Never Festival. Perfect timing for us staying there.

Rick fishing at the creek just below where we were camped. Caught nothing :(

His and Hers

Relaxing by the campfire.

Game of local cricket. Parks & Wildlife Vs The World.
Was part of the Never Never Festival in Mataranka. Was a good laugh.

We got a bit thirsty. Off to the shops we went and bought some beer and ice with our FLASH esky :)

Esky NT style......loving it. Kept our beers cold, that's all that matters!

Us enjoying the atmosphere of the cricket, was very entertaining.

I know this is side on but this was a classic. Ricky Ponting is that you???

Water Girl....I mean, Beer Girl.

The turn out of locals and vistors for the Bullride that night.

This kid was so cute. You could hardly see him for his hat.

The bulls were very cranky at the rodeo. In the background is the clown. Yes it is an aboriginal man with no shoes on. He got clipped a few times but he was pretty good at running away from them too!

This cowboy is holding on for dear life........

Oh.....nup, he was bucked off.  Lane Frost wannabe......

This guy caught this barra with his own hands. This was at another caravan park at Mataranka where they do feed barra shows twice a day. Was pretty cool.

Mataranka Thermal Springs. The water was beautiful and warm!

Mataranka Thermal Springs. This was much nice than the one where we were staying, the Bitter Springs.
